the mental load (“the app”) is published by Loup (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app does with information, in plain terms.
The short version: everything you type stays on your phone. There is no account, no sign-up, and no server storing your household. The only time information leaves your device is when you choose to use one of the AI features, and then only the specific context needed to answer that one request.
1. We do not have accounts, and we do not have your data
The app has no login, no user profile and no cloud sync. Your family details, dates, notes and lists are written to storage on your own device, encrypted at rest by iOS while the device is locked. We cannot see them, cannot recover them, and do not receive copies of them.
If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it.
2. Information you enter
You may enter names, relationships, ages and birthdays, schools and school years, activities, notes, appointment details, renewal and expiry dates, and household staff details including visa expiry dates. Some of this concerns members of your family, including children.
You enter this about your own household, for your own use. It is stored only on your device. We do not collect it, transmit it to ourselves, or share it with anyone.
3. AI features and what they send
Four features use artificial intelligence. Each one is optional. If you never use them, no information ever leaves your device.
| Feature | What is sent |
|---|---|
| Weekly load radar | Your family context (names, ages, schools, activities, renewal dates), upcoming dates, your open items, and recent notes |
| Say or type it | The text you dictated or typed, plus family context and your open items |
| Import dates | The photographs or PDF pages you selected, plus the titles of items you already track, so duplicates can be skipped |
| Suggestions after adding an item | The item you added, plus family context and your open items |
These requests are routed through a server we operate on Cloudflare Workers, which forwards them to the Anthropic Claude API to generate a response. The response is returned to your device and stored there.
- Requests are not stored on our server. We do not keep a copy of your household context or your documents.
- Anthropic’s API terms state that inputs submitted through the API are not used to train their models. See https://www.anthropic.com/legal/commercial-terms.
- Cloudflare processes the request in transit. See https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
If you would prefer that none of this information ever leaves your device, simply do not use the AI features. Everything else in the app — the tracked domains, family context, staged reminders, and private assignments — works entirely offline.
4. The small amount of technical information we do process
A random installation identifier. When the app is first launched it generates a random identifier and stores it on your device. It is sent with AI requests solely so our server can apply fair-use limits and stop abuse. It is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, device identifier or advertising identifier, and it changes if you delete and reinstall the app.
Purchase verification. If you subscribe, your App Store transaction receipt is sent with AI requests so our server can confirm the subscription is genuine before doing paid work. The receipt is signed by Apple and contains no personal details beyond the purchase itself. We do not store it.
Server logs. Cloudflare records standard technical information about requests, such as timing and error codes, used only to keep the service working. We do not use it to build a profile of you.
5. Permissions the app asks for
- Calendar — read, to spot events that need preparation, and write, to add dates you explicitly choose to import. Calendar contents are processed on your device and are not transmitted to us.
- Location — approximate location, used only to fetch local weather so the app can suggest weather-related preparation. Your location is not stored or sent to us.
- Photos and files — only the images or documents you explicitly select for date extraction. The app has no background access to your photo library.
- Microphone and speech recognition — only while you are actively dictating. Transcription is performed by Apple’s speech recognition, which may process audio on Apple’s servers; see Apple’s privacy policy. We receive the resulting text only if you then submit it.
- Notifications — all reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No push server is involved.
Every permission can be refused or revoked in iOS Settings. Refusing one disables the related feature and nothing else.
6. What we never do
- We do not sell or rent information to anyone.
- We do not use advertising, ad networks or advertising identifiers.
- We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not share your household with anyone, including the people named in it. Assignments in the app are your private reference and are never visible to another person.
7. Children
The app is intended for adults managing a household. It is not directed at children and children are not the users.
A parent or guardian may record details about their own children, such as a first name, age, school and activities. This stays on the device under their control. If a parent uses an AI feature, that context is included in the request as described in section 3. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children.
8. Payments
Subscriptions and purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details. Apple provides us with anonymous aggregate sales reporting only. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings.
9. Your rights and choices
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is generally nothing for us to retrieve, correct or erase on your behalf. You have direct control:
- See or change your data — it is all inside the app.
- Erase it — delete individual entries in the app, or delete the app to remove everything.
- Stop all transmission — stop using the AI features, or refuse the relevant permissions.
Depending on where you live you may have rights under laws including the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, the UK and EU GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act. If you believe we hold information about you and wish to exercise those rights, contact us at the address below and we will respond within the period required by the applicable law.
10. Security
Data on your device is written with iOS file protection, meaning it is encrypted while the device is locked. All network requests use HTTPS. Our server verifies App Store purchases before performing paid work and applies rate limits.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keeping your device locked with a passcode or biometrics is the single most effective protection for the information in this app.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change what the app does with information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.

This app helps you notice things; it does not guarantee them. Nothing in the app is medical, legal, immigration, financial or tax advice, and dates and deadlines should always be confirmed with the school, clinic, authority or provider concerned.
